USABILITY STUDIES
I have had the opportunity to conduct several usability studies for clients such as the Ready.gov Disaster Preparedness Team, FEMA, The Department of Homeland Security, the Georgia PINES Library System and the Mercer University MSTCM Program.
READY.GOV
Ready Business Study
I was given the opportunity to conduct a synchronous remote, small scale usability study on the Ready.gov website, specifically the Ready Business page.

My team and I had intended to work closely with the Ready.gov team, however at the start of the project the United States began to experience the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since our clients were part of FEMA, we were unable to work as closely with them and the rest of the DHS team as we had originally expected. This was a valuable opportunity to experience the reality of expectations and project deadlines persisting in the event of communication blocks or other barriers between the client and myself, and gave me an opportunity to demonstrate initiative, independence and professionalism in the face of adversity during a project.

Ultimately we were able to meet with the client and successfully presented our recommendations for improving the UX/UI aspects of the Business portion of the Ready.gov website.

MSTCM
MSTCM Desktop and Mobile Study
I was given the opportunity to conduct a synchronous remote, small scale usability study on the Mercer University Master's in Technical Communication and Management (MSTCM) program website as part of a UX focused Independent study.

My colleague and I worked closely with the program chair, Dr. Pam Brewer, over the course of the project in order to account for important factors relevant to the project, such as target demographic. Due to the international reach of the program and the intended direction the department wishes to pursue moving forward, it was especially important that we work to include data collected from international participants, particularly in India.

We had the added factor of maintaining health an safety guidelines set by both the University and the CDC due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
We completed this study in two parts, an in-person study focused on the mobile version of the site and a synchronous remote study focused on the desktop version of the site. Our final deliverable for this project will be a recommendation report which will be presented to our client and advisor, Dr. Pam Brewer.

GEORGIA PINES LIBRARY
Library Catalogue Study
This project was a small scale usability study conducted on the Georgia PINES Library catalogue. My team and I were responsible for evaluating the desktop version of the site targeted towards the demographic of 55+ years old and evaluated the UX/UI aspects of the site in relation to the 5E's of Usability, which are
-
Effective
-
Efficient
-
Engaging
-
Error tolerant
-
Easy to Learn
We conducted the study in person in the Usability lab on campus and were given the opportunity to present directly to our client.
